Jacksonville charges $10.00 for each 1,000 square feet of roofing under Ordinance Code s. 320.409, with a minimum of $80.00 when the permit needs no inspection and $150.00 when it needs one or more. Repairs under 500 square feet cost $10.00. The Roofing row also lists a C & D debris fee of $17.50, and the page doesn't print an effective date. Its permits last 180 days. A state roofing license from DBPR's Construction Industry Licensing Board isn't the only paper your roofer needs here. The division's FAQ says contractors must also register with it. Applications go through JaxEPICS once you've set up an account, and the division answers at 904-255-8500 from Room 280 of the Ed Ball Building, 214 North Hogan Street. After a hurricane or tropical storm, the division's recovery page says permits may qualify for expediting and some fee reductions under Florida SB180.
The median Jacksonville home dates from 1987, and 57.6 percent of occupied homes are lived in by their owners (ACS 2020-2024). Before you sign anything, ask the roofer to show you its registration with the Building Inspection Division.
